AHP Career Track: Paint Horse Journal Internship

Introduction: The American Paint Horse Association is a breed registry
located in Fort Worth, Texas. The Association performs the function of
registration, record keeping, show management, sale scheduling, field services,
racing coordination, publishing, public relations, information dissemination and
administration. In addition, the Association fulfills its purpose of promoting
the American Paint Horse through efficient service to members, directors and the
general public.
The Paint Horse Journal is the monthly publication of the American Paint
Horse Association (APHA). Our readers are Paint Horse enthusiasts with a range
of interests as wide as the world of equestrian activities. The Paint Horse
Journal is responsible for covering activities and events at the APHA-sponsored
World Championship Paint Horse Show, which will be held June 22-July 5, 2008 at
the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Responsibilities: The Intern will work in the Editorial Department and
will also have the opportunity to work with individuals in marketing, media and
other departments. The intern will be responsible for assisting staff, writing
and doing some photography for the Paint Horse Journal, APHA’s quarterly
Connection newsletter and the Youth association’s Generation j, as well as
assisting staff at the Youth World Show and World Show.
Basic Requirements: Seeking individual majoring in Journalism or
Agricultural Journalism who desires to learn more about breed associations and
develop skills to work within the horse industry.
Duration of Internship: This internship will be from mid May to mid
August. However, these dates may be modified to fit the intern’s needs.
Salary: $1,200 per month

Housing and Transportation: The intern is responsible for transportation,
room and board. The APHA office is located in Northeast Ft. Worth and there is
no public transportation. The intern must provide their own transportation.
