AHP Career Track: Web Properties For Sale

After a long, successful history in the equestrian publishing industry, Sostre Enterprises is putting its web properties, EquestianMag.com and ShopEquestrian.com, up for sale. EquestrianMag.com is the premium online magazine for equestrian enthusiasts and has served the industry for more than five years. ShopEquestrian is an equestrian shopping directory with over 30 active categories.

At this time, we’re only announcing the sale to members of the American Horse Publications association. We wanted to give you the first opportunity to acquire this leading equestrian property.

As you may know, EquestrianMag.com offers visitors regularly updated equestrian news, exclusive equestrian articles, and, through ShopEquestrian.com, a huge Equestrian Shopping Directory. This advertiser-driven online magazine model offers an attractive opportunity for publishers, advertisers or others in the equestrian industry to build on a highly successful business and publishing niche.

“Because Sostre Enterprises is shifting its focus away from running online magazine properties, EquestrianMag no longer fits our business model,” says Pedro Sostre, president of Sostre Enterprises. “EquestrianMag.com is a strong performer and would serve as the ideal digital component to an established brand, or an opportunity for a smaller online publishing company to hit the ground running in a profitable niche.”

EquestrianMag offers:

8,200+ articles, including exclusive content

20,000+ pageviews a month
4,500+ indexed Google pages

“Operating costs for EquestrianMag are nominal, advertising interest is strong—and the site ranks number one on several highly competitive keywords,” Sostre says. “The site features hundreds of search engine optimized pages that publishers can build on. We wanted to give existing equine publishers this exclusive opportunity to purchase EquestrianMag and Shopequestrian.com before listing them for sale to the public.”

Sostre Enterprises will review all serious offers for EquestrianMag.com and Shopequestrian.com. Sostre, the developer and editor of the site, will stay on board to consult the new owner for three months during the transition period.

EquestrianMag.com is currently hosted on DriveCMS, a robust and user friendly content management system (CMS), with low monthly fees. DriveCMS allows even inexperienced publishers to update the site in minutes. However, the content is portable if the new owner chooses to use a different content management system.

“EquestrianMag does not currently employ a staff of writers and relies heavily on industry contacts to provide content,” Sostre says. “Any organization that chooses to produce daily, original content could exponentially increase the success of the publication with readers and advertisers, however the current model proves it is not necessary to incur these costs to provide value to the target audience.”
