AHP Career Track: Request for Proposal to Produce, Distribute, and Promote AYHC Publications

The American Youth Horse Council seeks proposals for the production, distribution, and promotion of its three classic books for people working with youth and horses. Notice of intent to bid is requested by July 28, 2010. If the bidder does not have copies of the publications, a review copy will be provided upon notice of intent to bid. Complete proposals must be submitted by August 6, 2010 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Proposals that include all three elements of the requested services (production, distribution, and promotion) will be preferred; however vendors may also bid only those elements they can deliver with a high degree of accuracy and effectiveness. Descriptions of the publications in their current formats are listed below and on our website  www.AYHC.com or http://horsebooksetc.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=3&pg=1.  AYHC will consider your ideas or suggestions for alternatives for producing these materials.

Please bid the production, distribution, and promotion elements costs separately in your proposal.

The publications are as follows:

Horse Industry Handbook – An encyclopedic book on the care and management of horses used in national horse bowl and hippology contests as a reference. The material is formatted for a 3” loose-leaf binder, padded and embossed with the publication’s logo. It uses 335 8.5 x 11 sheets with 609 pages printed double sided and 13 cardstock tabbed dividers to introduce the 13 chapters.

Youth Leaders Manual – A book of 60 lesson plans and activities for youth interested in horses organized in three levels of experience; beginner, intermediate, and advanced.  The material is formatted for a 2” loose-leaf binder, padded and embossed with the publication’s logo. It uses 233 8.5 x 11 sheets with 411 pages printed double sided and 3 cardstock tabbed dividers to introduce the 3 chapters. This book is also available as a searchable CD.

Start with Safety: Horse Safety Guidelines: This classic practical book is in its second edition with illustrations by Susan Harris, written by Pat Comerford and JT Potter and the AYHC Education Committee. It is 48 pages with cover, 24 sheets 8.5 x 11 of heavy paper stock and it is ribbon bound.
