AHP Career Track: Experienced Quality Control Coordinator

Foxden Equine, a small equine nutritional supplement company in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Coordinator.

The Quality Control Coordinator oversees, coordinates, administers, and provides all day-to-day quality control activities for a national animal supplement packager and manufacturer, and is the primary point of contact for NASC (National Animal Supplement Council) compliance.  The primary focus of the position is to ensure that the quality of materials purchased, processed, manufactured, and/or distributed meet or exceed defined quality standards so that the highest quality products are delivered to our customers.

The Quality Control Coordinator implements and coordinates programs to assure consistent quality of new and existing products.  This person’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and enforcing quality systems and procedures, reviewing quality problems, managing raw material and finished good testing, maintenance of change controls, validating and auditing processes, recommending and implementing corrective action where necessary, SOP’s, batch records, and document control. 

This position also will have direct interaction with customers and will be responsible for understanding customer expectations and developing solutions to address customer issues.  Ability to maintain confidentiality, build relationships and flexibility to work effectively across other departments, including customer service, marketing, supply chain, research & development, manufacturing and operations, are key components to success.  Some travel for training and trade shows may be required.

Must have strong writing, math, computer and communications skills, and be capable of maintaining strong supportive relationships with peers.  Must be organized, able to work under pressure and be able to organize resources and establish priorities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.  A willingness to help in any department, and work with all levels of employees and customers is required.  Must have strong ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.  Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. 

A minimum of a 4-year undergraduate degree, science field preferred.  Three years of experience in Nutritional Supplement Industry, laboratory research, quality control or product technical documentation.  Working knowledge of laboratory methods and technical documentation preferred.  Must be detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and use of standard office equipment (copier, fax, calculator, etc.) are required.
