The program emphasizes investigation of the causes and mechanisms of diseases which affect the economy of production and the performance of horses, particularly those of economic importance to the horse industry. The fields of current research activity comprise infectious diseases, reproductive physiology, epidemiology, experimental pharmacology and toxicology, pathology, parasitology, immunology and immunogenetics.
