Northampton, MA—March 18, 2008—When AHP Affiliate member L.A. Pomeroy, of
Northampton, Massachusetts, was invited by 4-H organizers to lead a youth
workshop on model horse collecting and showing, the former consultant for Breyer/Reeves
International knew just where to turn.
“My sincerest thanks go to Arlene Newman and the team at Breyers/Reeves
International for providing materials to support this workshop and encourage
young people to develop their horsemanship. Through this AHP Corporate Member’s
lifelike models, and equipment tailored to scale for miniature mounts,
generations of girls and boys learn about showing and horse care, as well as
model and set design,” says Pomeroy.
Pomeroy will lead a model horse show workshop during the 4-H Horse Seminar,
presented by the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation and Massachusetts 4-H Horse
Advisory Committee, on April 5, at the Hopkins Academy in Hadley,
Massachusetts. The event, which is open to the public, will also offer
workshops in show ring etiquette, drill team competition, horse judging,
homemade horse treats, equine first aid, and therapeutic riding programs, and is
organized by Massachusetts 4-H Equine Science Program Coordinator, Channon Ames.
A popular lecturer on the 4-H circuit, Pomeroy presented a talk to the Pandora
Pony Pals 4-H Club in February on Tips Towards Better Horse Photos, in
conjunction with the 4-H program’s annual photography contest. This season, she
is donating a dollar from every photo reprint sale through L.A. Photos to the
Bay State Equine Rescue.
L.A. Pomeroy has two decades of experience in equestrian sports, history, and
art, including FEI-level disciplines and all breeds. After managing the
Equestrian press center at the 1996 Olympic Games, and serving as contributing
editor for Mike Plumb’s Horse Journal, she headed Western content for
Equisearch.com, and continues to contribute to AHP publications, including
Massachusetts Horse magazine, as well as providing independent photography
and show announcing services. For more information, contact
