American Trails was created in 1988 and has been the collective voice for a
diverse coalition of trails enthusiasts, land managers, conservationists,
friends of outdoor recreation and livable cities through its relationships
with the Federal Highway Administration, state trail programs and federal
land management agencies. It is the only national, nonprofit organization
working on behalf of ALL trail interests.
Each year American Trails seeks out the best websites in the cyberworld of
trails and greenways looking for sites that make trails come alive, provide
effective information delivery, support volunteers and engage the public.
In short, American Trails showcases ways advocates and agencies are making a
difference for trails.
The 2008 Winning Website for "Best Education & Trails Training Site" was
presented to www.weedfreefeed.com
partly because of "educational information on how to prevent weeds and
where weed-free feeds can be found specifically for equestrian users".
"It's a real thrill to receive this award and recognition," Bonnie Davis,
owner of www.weedfreefeed.com and
its sister site, Two Horse Enterprises,
www.twohorseenterprises.com,
stated. "When one considers there are hundreds of websites, being selected
Best is not only an honor but a challenge to keep weed free feed fresh and
alive with information and educational material for equestrians across the
nation.
"I'd like to thank all the sponsors and supporters who have helped support
weed free feed. Elk Grove Milling which has a California Certified Weed
Free Pellet and EnviroHorse have been our two greatest sponsors and
supporters. They understand the need for weed free feeds and the facts that
if horseowners do not have access to the feeds and scientific data for
keeping horses on trails, we'll be locked out of our recreational lands!"
Davis concluded.
