AHP Newsgroup: Media Leader Boosts Riding for Rescues with National Horsepower

The Trail Rider partners with American Competitive Trail Horse Association

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Boulder, Colorado
August 2010

The publisher of The Trail Rider, the nation’s leading magazine for people passionate about exploring with their horses, is pleased to announce a partnership with the American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA).

ACTHA’s dual missions are right in line with the readers of The Trail Rider and of our company overall, said Tom Winsor, General Manager of the Active Interest Media Equine Group, the nation’s leading publisher of equine-related media and the publisher of The Trail Rider. “Our readers care about the well-being of their horses and about the journeys they take with them,” said Winsor. “Joining forces with an organization that does so much to support equine charities while at the same time promoting getting out there and having fun with horses is a great match for us.”

The Austin, Texas-based ACTHA donates 50 percent of proceeds from its rides to equine charities in addition to using its competitions as a platform for demonstrating how formerly ‘unwanted’ horses can be perfect partners for riders looking to brighten their lives with adventure by hitting the trail.

“This new partnership will help us reach our goal of finding jobs for ‘unwanted horses, and having fun while ‘riding for rescues’,’” said Tom Scrima, ACTHA General Manager. Currently, 20 percent of the horses participating in the events, which include six obstacles over six miles of trail, are rescued horses.
