Road to the Horse, the world championship of colt starting, is now accepting requests for media credentials.

The 2012 Road to the Horse will once again bring a never-before-seen competition as it welcomes international trainers to the arena and doubles the size of its competition in the process.

Three countries, the United States, Canada and Australia, will be represented during the event. Bearing the colors of the U.S., will be two veterans of Road to the Horse. Previous champion Craig Cameron of Bluff Dale, Texas, will team up with the well-known Pat Parelli of Parachute, Colo. Canadian horsemen Jonathan Field of Abbotsford, British Columbia and  Glenn Stewart Baldonnel, British Columbia, will defend the maple leaf country, while Australians Dan James of North Arm Cove, New South Wales and Guy McLean of Hervey Bay, Queensland, will bring their skills from the land down under.

All six horsemen will select a gelding produced by the renowned Four Sixes Ranch of Guthrie, Texas, from a herd that has been carefully managed by the ranch and has remain untouched for more than a year. Once selected, one horseman from each country will take to the round pens, with the second horseman to follow. Scores will be totaled for each country with the scores from both horseman determining the winning country.

There are a number of firsts in the event this year to include the international competition, six horsemen, the posting of scores throughout the event and ultimately two winners.

To receive credentials, members of the media, including journalists and photographers, must submit a request from the editor on the letterhead of the publication they are representing. Members of the media should note that no access to the arena floor will be provided without prior written consent and only within a prescribed time frame. Furthermore, media must refrain from posting results of the event until released by the Road to the Horse press liaison Julie Bryant. Press badges must be displayed at all times while at Road to the Horse. Requests must be received no later than February 15 and may be sent to julie@roadtothehorse.com or faxed to 817-900-7377.
