What is the AHP Equine Media Awards?
The annual 2024 AHP Equine Media Awards contest, held since 1976, recognizes excellence in 47 equine media categories and provides a judge’s critique for every entry. AHP membership is required to enter.
Who are the finalists?
The eagerly awaited announcement of the finalists is over for 78 members who entered 453 entries in the annual AHP Equine Media Awards competition that recognizes excellence in content published in 2023.
The finalists have been selected by media professional judges who review the submissions and provide constructive comments on every entry. This year’s finalists represent 22 Media Industry members, 17 Media Professional members, and 9 Business members who advanced to the top in one or more of 47 classes.
The AHP award contest, held since 1976, allows members to enter their best content from the previous year. Finalists represent a broad spectrum of media, including print and online journalism, digital media, photography, videography, podcasts, books, and more.

The 2024 AHP Equine Media Awards presentations will be held on Saturday night, May 18, 2024, during the annual AHP Equine Media Conference, Return to Horse Country, in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 16-18, 2024.

Who are previous EMA winners?
Promoting excellence in equine media has been part of AHP’s mission for over 50 years. The annual awards competition recognizes standards in journalistic integrity for informative and engaging content in various media categories. Showcasing excellence in equine media and providing guidance for improvement are the two key elements of this member program.
Submissions in the 2023 Equine Media Awards totaled 515 entries from 87 AHP members who represented 31 Media Industry members, 41 Media Professional members, and 15 Business members who competed in 54 classes.
