The Horse Radio Network (HRN) is pleased to announce the 10 year anniversary of the premier podcast network devoted to equestrian enthusiasts.
On August 8, 2008, Horse Radio Network founder, Glenn the Geek, had a conversation with his first host, Helena Bee, about what HRN might look like in the future. Podcast technology was very new, and barely had a foothold in the lives and pockets of media consumers at the time. But, the mission of the network was simple, and it has become a beacon of sorts, guiding the growth of this niche business into the largest equestrian network in the world – to be the voice of the horse world, bringing the equestrian community together, one podcast at a time. After 10 years, HRN remains true to that mission.
The Stable Scoop Radio Show airs its 500th episode this week. Stable Scoop was the very first podcast on the network, and as an equine-centric variety show that features a diverse range of topics, guests, and fun discussions, it quickly won the hearts of listeners young and old.
After Glenn added the popular daily podcast, Horses in the Morning, with co-host Jaimie Jennings, Horse Radio Network found itself on the radar of mainstream media consumers. Of course, horse people can never get enough chat about horses, so it wasn’t long before HRN added more podcasts to the network, including shows that feature content appealing to horse enthusiasts with specific areas of interest, like the Eventing Radio Show, the Dressage Radio Show, and Horsemanship Radio. HRN now produces 15 regularly-airing podcasts.
With over 7,000 episodes, millions of downloads, and 32 hosts from around the globe, it’s safe to say that the Horse Radio Network is, indeed, the “voice of the horse world.”
As with most things, success didn’t come easy. Ten years ago, Glenn and his team had to work extremely hard at educating horse people about podcasts – many folks had never even heard of a podcast, let alone know how to listen to one!
"The success of the Horse Radio Network would not have been possible without the support of all the terrific sponsors, hosts, guests and listeners. We are proud to represent the horse industry with one of the most successful, independent podcast networks in the world," says Glenn the Geek.
The 10th anniversary episode of the flagship show, Stable Scoop, goes live today at www.StableScoop.com, Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher Radio. There is also a free Horse Radio Network app for both iPhones and Android devices.
