A 2019 Extreme Mustang Makeover trainer has the chance to be selected to compete in the Wild Card competition at Road to the Horse in 2020.
The Extreme Mustang Makeover (EMM) and Road to the Horse (RTTH) are partnering up in 2019 to offer an Extreme Mustang Makeover competitor a spot in the 2020 RTTH Wild Card Competition. The only catch is you must compete in a 2019 EMM in order to be eligible. The wild card competitor will be selected following the final 2019 EMM event in Fort Worth, Texas, Sept. 2019.
In the Road to the Horse competition, elite clinicians from around the world build a relationship with an untouched 3-year-old American Quarter Horse and face off for the World Championship of Colt Starting title. The Wild Card competition allows first-time competitors the opportunity to participate. During the 2020 event, they will each start an untouched 6666 Ranch colt, during three days of competition, in true Road to the Horse style. The winner is guaranteed a much-sought-after position in the Road to the Horse World Championship competition in 2021.
“We have long supported Road to the Horse and are really excited to offer this opportunity to one of our Extreme Mustang Makeover competitors,” said MHF Executive Director, Kali Sublett. “What a great way for our mustang trainers to take what they have learned through their time with a mustang and use that experience to start an American Quarter Horse in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd in Lexington, Kentucky. This will be a fun event and we can't wait to see who gets selected!”
To be eligible to be selected, individuals must participate to compete in one of the four Extreme Mustang Makeovers. The Ocala, Florida, EMM trainers have already been selected, but there is still time to apply for the following EMM’s:
Lexington, Kentucky, June 20-22, 2019 (Application deadline: Jan. 4, 2019)
Los Angeles, California, Aug. 9-10, 2019 (Application deadline: March 1, 2019)
Fort Worth, Texas, Sept. 5-7, 2019 (Application deadline: March 1, 2019)
