Breyer® to Release Thunder, Team Mascot: Broncos Mascot is Ready to Roll

Colorado loves its Thunder, as in the purebred, pure white Arabian horses that have served for over 20 years as its Denver Broncos mascot, including through two consecutive (1998-99) Super Bowl championships.

While three different Arabian horses have portrayed Thunder over the years, they’ve all shared the same owner, Sharon Magness Blake and Ernie Blake, and same trainer, Ann Judge. The original Thunder (registered name JB Kobask) debuted with the Denver Broncos on September 12, 1993, and the current Thunder (aka Me N MyShadow) made his debut at Superbowl XLVIII.

Thunder has won the hearts of Colorado fans and families for many reasons. In addition to game day duties, he visits schools and makes promotional appearances (often with his proud owner, Sharon) and introduces the American flag at events like the National Western Stock Show.

Ann, his rider, is also a familiar face to the Arabian horse world, having judged the first-ever Arabian show in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the South African Arabian Nationals, and having trained and ridden Arabians to titles across six disciplines, including the 2012 Canadian National Championship for Sport Horse Under Saddle.

“When you think about it,” Ann laughs, “Thunder and I have lasted longer than most football players!”

Look for Breyer’s Thunder, Team Mascot, as a Traditional® portrait model ready to roll in to your favorite retailer soon.
