WHOA! Invites Artist Submissions for Woodside Art of the Horse Exhibition

WHOA! – the Woodside-area Horse Owners Association –  is pleased to invite Bay Area artists to participate in the Woodside Art of the Horse juried art exhibition.

Opening the 15th Annual Woodside Day of the Horse weekend with an evening of fabulous equestrian art and exceptional wine, Woodside Art of the Horse celebrates the beauty and nobility of the horses in our lives, at the Woodside Town Hall on Friday evening, October 11, from 6 to 8 PM.

Call for Artist Submissions

Woodside Art of the Horse is open to all Bay Area residents. Artwork must be the original work of the artist, and may be in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen and ink, graphic and charcoal, colored pencil, photography, sculpture, miniatures, or mixed media, as long as the artwork celebrates the horse. No giclees or computer generated art will be accepted. Awards will be presented during the reception on Friday evening for two age categories: over 18, and 18 and under.

Artists may submit up to three pieces, in any combination of mediums or all one medium, although only one piece may be selected for display at the exhibition. There are no size limitations except for sculptures, which may not exceed 60 lbs. and sculptors must provide a pedestal for display of their work. Paintings must be framed. Gallery wrap is acceptable providing the artwork extends and covers all sides of gallery wrap.

Entry Instructions

Please submit your application online at https://whoa94062.org/art-show/. The final date for online submissions is August 15, 2019, at midnight. A jury of four experts will select the entries, which will be announced on August 31, 2019.

Art must be delivered to Woodside, California, on Saturday, October 5, 2019 or Sunday, October 6th. The delivery location will be announced to the artists whose entries have been accepted. Art must be picked up within 72 hours of the closing of the show, unless special provisions in writing are agreed upon between the artists and WHOA! Artwork that does not comply with these provisions will, by necessity, become the property of WHOA! after 30 days and will be sold to benefit the mission of WHOA!

Artists retain the copyright to their images. However, accepted images do become part of the WHOA! archives and may be used in future art promotions. No sales will be made at the event; however art may be sold privately after the event. No commissions will be paid to WHOA!

All art must be insured by the individual artist. WHOA! does not hold insurance for artwork on exhibit and is not responsible for loss of or damage to any of the artist’s work. Artists must insure their work themselves.
