Humane Society of the United States Expert to Speak at 67th Jockey Club Roundtable Conference

Valerie Pringle, Equine Campaign Manager for the Humane Society of the United States, will speak at the 67th Annual Jockey Club Roundtable Conference this weekend. This is the first time an animal welfare organization has participated in this annual conference. Ms. Pringle will discuss the HSUS’s commitment to protect horses, and the HSUS’s support for the Horseracing Integrity Act.

WHAT: The presentation will include an overview of the organization’s efforts to protect horses, including three federal bills: The Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act, that will end the slaughter of American horses, The Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act, which will stop the soring of horses to achieve an artificial pain induced gait, and the organization’s support of medication reform for racehorses through the Horseracing Integrity Act.
