When a young Lynn Salvatori first saw the pony at a neighboring property to her childhood home in Sarasota, FL, no one could have predicted that was the start of a lifelong love affair with the horse, training and competition. Meanwhile in Paris, France, Cyril Pittion-Rossillon was honing his skills in highly recognized competitions over fences and riding instruction while earning his multiple degrees from the French National Equestrian School. Over the past five decades, the pair has seen a career and business structure evolve through horse training, show ring competition, education, judging and giving back to the industry in so many ways.
Under the tutelage of mentor Bobbi Steele, Lynn Salvatori came up through the ranks of 4-H in Sarasota County and then AQHA competition both regionally and nationally. By 1970 she was successfully operating Salvatori School of Horsemanship. She trained horses and riders for all disciplines which she had learned from Ms Steele’s background in dressage. In 1976, Salvatori earned an AQHA World Championship with Lecanto Raider, the first of over 40 more Championships and Reserve Championships to follow.
In the early 1980s, Lynn Salvatori Palm, already a well-known trainer and exhibitor on her way to even greater success with a very special American Quarter Horse Stallion named Rugged Lark. Owned by Carol Harris, Rugged Lark went on to become a World Champion, 2 time Super Horse Champion and entertainer who performed over 50 bridleless exhibitions including the 1996 Olympic Games all before his official retirement in 1997.
Lynn was fortunate to meet Cyril Pittion-Rossillon at Carol Harris’s Bo-Bett Farm in Ocala, FL. Once they began to work together, the duo’s similar backgrounds and extensive training in French classical training caused a shift in their program in the 1990s. The focus went from training and competing to educating horses and riders through clinics, horse expos, television shows and authoring an extensive library of books and DVDs. Spending the majority of their year at the Royal Palm Ranch in Michigan and a few months of winter in Ocala was soon to become the opposite with the acquisition of Fox Grove Farm.
In the early 2000s, Fox Grove Farm in Ocala became the home base for Palm Partnership Training. Welcoming riders of all levels on all breeds of horses and all disciplines, Fox Grove boasts amenities that allow guests to enjoy learning in an environment that is second to none. Joining the team, Marie-Frances Davis was a good fit for managing horses and educational programs conducted by Lynn and Cyril.
Having successfully coached riders over fences, in western events and all-around competition, Lynn and Cyril never strayed from their roots based in French classical training. As they approach 2020 with those classical principles, riders they teach and coach and horses they train and show continue to shine in western and classical dressage as well as those in hunters, jumpers, ranch riding and recreational riding.
With 2020 on the horizon, the Palm Equestrian Academy team looks forward to welcoming all to Fox Grove Farm for celebratory events throughout the year. Additionally, they look forward to continuing to develop Fox Grove Farm as a destination for riders, competitors and visitors to Ocala in addition to sharing their expertise with others both nationally and internationally.
