Motlow Creek Equestrian Center Presents Divertimentos & Dressage

Dressage freestyle to great moments in classical music

Motlow Creek Equestrian Center is putting on a benefit for Brooke USA and the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra on Thursday, October 24, 2019. The live orchestra composed of strings, flutes, brass and harp will play classical pieces to the choreographed movements of dressage horses.

There are three solo performances, two with Brooke USA Ambassador JJ Tate and her grand prix horses to a compilation of pieces that includes The Arrival of The Queen of Sheba, by George Frederick Handel, and Carolyn West on her horse Iris, to Entracte, by Jacques Ibert and Reverie by Claude Debussy.

Starting with a cocktail party at 6 p.m., guests will enjoy wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres. Promptly at 7 p.m., guests will take their seats to enjoy the evening’s performances. “This is a dream come true as I get to help raise funds for my two passions – horses and classical music,” said Sally Frick, owner of Motlow Creek as well as a competitive equestrian and a flutist for the Spartanburg Philharmonic.

The Spartanburg Philharmonic has been delighting audiences of all ages. The 65-member orchestra performs classical masterpieces, genre-bending pieces, and everything in between. From Classics, Espresso, Pops!, and Bluegrass events to our Education & Outreach programs, the mission is to enrich, inspire, and educate through live performances of high-quality music. The rich musical history of Spartanburg has its roots in the 19th century. Famed musicians, orchestras, and conductors from metropolitan centers performed here, inspiring a community group of top-notch talent to create an organization that shares a love of music with our city.
