CHA Offers Certification at Monty Roberts’ in California

Monty Roberts and the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) are excited to announce the second annual Equine Facility Managers (EFM) certification, “Building Safer Equine Activity Programs through Equine Facility Manager Certification,” taught by CHA CEO Christy Landwehr and CHA EFM Clinician Aimee Edwards. The schedule is set for January 24, 25, 26, 2020 and packed with knowledge in a beautiful facility, renowned since 1966, in the Santa Ynez Valley of California.

This workshop is designed to show the process that CHA uses in evaluating the skills necessary to gain CHA EFM Certification and to practice the skills tested in each of the four levels evaluated at CHA EFM Certification Clinics.

The Equine Facility Management program is a two and a half day certification to evaluate participants on their skills and knowledge of equine facility management. Participants will demonstrate skills and take a written test at each of the 4 levels of certification. Each participant starts at Level 1 and may proceed to the next level upon successful completion of each level. Certification means the individual is committed to professional standards, has been independently evaluated, and is proven to be safe, knowledgeable and effective. Holders of these certificates build their resumes, help lower insurance premiums, and network with peers and colleagues.

There will be a tour of the host facility, Flag Is Up Farms in Solvang, California.

This January 24-26, 2020 workshop is geared toward stable owners and staff, riding instructors interested in becoming CHA Certified Equine Facility Managers, and individuals who want to make their operations safer and more effective. The cost for the three days is $750 and includes lunches and refreshments.

Christy Landwehr is the Certified Horsemanship Association's Chief Executive Officer and Certified Master Level Riding Instructor & Equine Facility Manager, past President of the American Youth Horse Council, AQHA Professional Horseman and APHA Professional Horseman. Aimee Edwards is the 2019 CHA Volunteer of the Year Award, a CHA member since 1996, English & Western Clinician since 2011 and an Equine Facilities Manager since 2017.

The New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts is available for interviews.

MONTY ROBERTS first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens To Horses; a chronicle of his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods called Join-Up®. Monty grew up on a working horse farm as a firsthand witness to traditional, often violent methods of horse training and breaking the spirit with an abusive hand. Rejecting that, he went on to win nine world's championships in the show ring. Today, Monty's goal is to share his message that "Violence is never the answer." Roberts has been encouraged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the award of the Membership in The Royal Victorian Order, as well as becoming Patron of Join-Up International.
