Appointments Made to Indiana Horse Racing Commission Committees and Board

Indiana’s Governor Eric Holcomb recently made appointments to two breed development advisory committees and advisory board within the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC).

Indiana Thoroughbred Breed Development Advisory Committee
In a prior announcement, Governor Holcomb appointed Bruce Murphy as the chairman for the Thoroughbred advisory committee. Murphy, owner of Murphy Trailer Sales in Linden, Indiana, has been involved in the Thoroughbred racing industry since 2003 and is also the president of the Indiana Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (ITOBA). He will serve as chairman until September 30, 2023.

Working alongside Murphy will be Blaine Davidson from Terre Haute and Tianna Richardville from Shelbyville. Davidson is a stallion owner and veteran of the U.S. Army. Richardville was born and raised in Indiana and has been involved in the Indiana Thoroughbred program since 2000 and currently serves on the Indiana Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protection Association’s (IHBPA) board.

The supporting members will serve until November 30, 2023, and the committee is responsible for making annual recommendations regarding the Thoroughbred Breed Development Program to the IHRC.

Indiana Quarter Horse Breed Development Advisory Committee
The governor reappointed Indiana Quarter Horse Breed Development Advisory Committee members consisting of Chris Duke, Lance Finlinson and Randy Thompson. Finlinson, owner of a promotional advertising company from Greenwood, will continue as the chairman. Duke, a Whiteland resident, has been involved in barrel racing and Quarter Horse racing for more than 15 years. Thompson, from Brazil, has been a part of the family racing business all his life. The members will serve until November 30, 2023, and are responsible for making annual recommendations regarding the Quarter Horse Breed Development Program to the IHRC.
