Horse&Rider’s OnDemand Video Rolls into Year Two with Fresh Instructional Series

Top horsemen Bud Lyon and Brad Barkemeyer offer streaming horsemanship instruction, with hours of instruction available from basic equine safety to finessed in-arena maneuvers.

Horse&Rider OnDemand, the full-service Western horsemanship video site curated by the editorial staff of Horse&Rider, is entering into its second year of service to the equine community with a fresh series of videos with Brad Barkemeyer and Bud Lyon.

Captured this fall in Northern Colorado, the series is rolling out on now. The videos—featuring Lyon and Barkemeyer individually as well as with everyday horsemen and horsewomen—breakdown the finer details of time spent in the saddle, while providing “ah-ha” moments to equine enthusiasts looking to better their game at home.

“As our OnDemand program grows, we’re able to expand our video offerings,” Nichole Chirico, Horse&Rider’s Managing Editor, said. “During this two-day shoot we shot more horse-training, horse-care, and problem-solving content, but something new for this shoot was the addition of non pro riders who were new to ranch riding and working cow horse. We wanted to make content more relatable to our audience by showing Bud and Brad working with non pro and novice riders who might face similar problems you face when you’re in the saddle.”

The Horse&Rider OnDemand platform releases two new videos each week, year-round, from Lyon and Barkemeyer, taking a deep dive into Western horsemanship with videos that focus on everything from stopping the buck to adding flex to a finished horse.

New this month, over a decade’s worth of back issues of Horse&Rider are available digitally, providing years of reading material at readers’ fingertips.

“This is no small change,” Chelsea Shaffer, Horse&Rider’s Western Editorial Director, said. “Subscribers now have exclusive access to thousands of pages of stories, instruction, and insight from the best horsemen and horsewomen we’ve ever worked with, written by the leading professionals in the industry. It’s a bonus like we’ve never offered, ideal for the user who can’t get enough of what Horse&Rider does best: improve your Western horse life.”

The OnDemand service also features videos on gear selection and use, including adjusting training tools, selecting tack to fit each horse, and grooming horses for their health and appearance.

Included with a membership to Horse&Rider OnDemand is a subscription to the brand’s vibrant, quarterly print publication, packed with horse training tips and horse care advice from top trainers, clinicians, and competitors. The print magazine is also packed with trail-riding insights and vacations, as well as gear tips and riding inspiration to improve every reader’s horse life.
