ELCR Announces Conservation Specialist/National Network Manager Position

Equine Land Conservation Resource (ELCR) announces the creation of a new fulltime Conservation Specialist /Network Manager position located at the ELCR office at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY with some travel required.

The Conservation Specialist /Network Manager is responsible for working in cooperation with the ELCR board of directors, executive director and staff to fulfill the organization’s strategic vision as outlined in the strategic work plan. The position reports directly to the ELCR executive director. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.

 Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the development and management of ELCR’s annual education plan
  • Respond to individual requests for counseling and technical assistance and monitor/track results
  • Manage promotion of all ELCR educational resources in newsletters, press releases, eblasts and social media
  • Manage expansion of ELCR’s national network to include local partner organizations and manage ongoing communications with these organizations to keep them current on ELCR programs and activities
  • Oversee communications and input from Local Action Network Advisory Committee and keep Committee updated on ELCR activities
  • Assist with Local Network Database development/management

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent problem solving, computer, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to manage several projects simultaneously in accordance with a strict timeline and close attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a small office as a team member with strong organizational and program management skills
  • Background in conservation with planning/zoning knowledge or experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of organization’s six core conservation areas and equine background
  • Bachelor’s degree required and a master’s degree preferred
