She first embraced the important role women play in the horse industry as an undergraduate at Hollins University, a women’s college in Roanoke, VA, where she was a member of the IHSA riding team and received a B.A. in Biology (1997). Blending her passion for horses with science, she received her M.S. (2002) and Ph.D. (2005) in Equine Nutrition from Virginia Tech. She dedicated the next 15 years of her career to education and research as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech, where she made measurable impacts on improving horse health, environmental stewardship, and women’s role in agriculture. She has worked extensively across private and public agencies, universities, and scientific disciplines, building collaborative relationships to promote and connect those involved in horse industry. Bridgett joined Mars, Incorporated to head up their recently launched MARS Equestrian™ sponsorship team in 2018. Bridgett’s role is to extend the business-wide commitment to creating a better world for horses, pets, and the people who love them.
