Dr. Juliet Getty Speaks on Solving Equine Obesity the Right Way on Monty Roberts’ Horsemanship Radio

Join Dr. Getty in gaining a clear understanding of what causes horses to become obese, and how to go about solving the problem. Traditional forage restriction is not the answer. It only tells the horse to go into survival mode and hold on to body fat. It is important to reduce calories from other sources, but never forage. Forage should be appropriately low in sugar and starch, and fed in a way to simulate natural grazing behavior. Stress reduction, physical activity, and targeted supplementation are also part of the big picture.

Dr. Juliet Getty, internationally respected equine nutritionist, shares tips about this topic and more on the award winning Horsemanship Radio. Her recent interview with the show's host, Monty Roberts' daughter, Debbie Roberts Loucks, can be heard at: https://www.horsemanshipradio.com/2020/03/15/155-juliet-getty-on-equine-obesity-generational-champions-by-omega-fields   Check out Episode #155 at minute marker 03:40 to enjoy this 23-minute discussion. Horsemanship Radio is dedicated to the exploration of good horsemanship throughout the world, offering tips and interviews that explore good horsemanship.
