Retired Racehorse Project’s Silent Auction Now Open for Bidding

The Retired Racehorse Project announces today the opening of its annual Silent Auction, sponsored by Ocala Jockey Club, which kicks off their fundraising for the 2021 Thoroughbred Makeover. The auction will run online through 4:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10.

In recent years, the Silent Auction has offered online bidding, with items on display at the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America, so the organization transitioned easily into a totally virtual event this year.

“Although we’ll certainly miss gathering at the Kentucky Horse Park for the Makeover and our traditional silent auction, the virtual event has great potential for a broader group of bidders,” said RRP board president and co-chair of the Silent Auction committee Carolyn Karlson. “The OTTBs and their trainers need our support more than ever this year, and the RRP Silent Auction is a great way to have fun and raise money for such a deserving cause.”

The RRP Silent Auction traditionally showcases a unique array of items up for bid including racing memorabilia, experiences or services, artwork, jewelry, and equestrian items. Auction items of interest this year include:

  • Halters worn by Authentic, Tiz The Law, Catholic Boy, English Channel, and Get Stormy
  • Go For Gin memorabilia signed by Chris McCarron
  • Horse Transportation vouchers for shippers including Brook Ledge and JR Hudson
  • High-quality sporting art and award-winning photography
  • Designer goods including Coach and Kate Spade accessories

The Retired Racehorse Project would like to thank the Silent Auction committee co-chairs, RRP board president Carolyn Karlson and Valerie Callcott-Stevens, for their dedicated work in developing this year’s Silent Auction, as well as all individuals or organizations who donated items. The Silent Auction committee also included Mary Jane Howell, Joanie Lawrence, Ellen Pearl, and Christina Sawelsky.

Bid now through 4:00 PM ET on Saturday, October 10 by visiting https://www.32auctions.com/2020TBMakeover.
