Follow-Up Survey on the Effects of Coronavirus Pandemic on the Care and Management of Horses in North America

Let’s help care for our horses, together.

With COVID-19 impacting equine activities worldwide, Dr. David Marlin has teamed up with Science Supplements, Inc, and Flair, LLC to develop a follow-up survey for those located in the US and Canada to better understand the effects of COVID-19 on horse owners, riders, trainers, grooms, stable managers, and other equestrian professionals. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes and asks for no personal information. The information gathered will be analyzed to produce targeted advice on how to care for our horses during these unprecedented times.

We are trying to collect as much information as possible and plan to release data to the public. Please consider copying and pasting this link or the below text in a social media post or email to your contacts for participation The research team is comprised of Dr David Marlin PhD, Cambridge, UK; Louisa Taylor BVM BVS (Hons) BVMedSci (Hons) MRCVS; Dr Jane Williams PhD, Hartpury University, UK; Dr Shannon Pratt-Phillips PhD, North Carolina State University; and Jenna Kutzner-Mulligan MS, Science Supplements USA.

Here is a sample text that may be used to share about the survey on social media platforms:

  • We ran the first survey at the end of March 2020.
  • We want to see how things have changed 6 months on.
  • The survey takes less than 5 min to complete.
  • The survey is anonymous.
  • Results will be shared here.
  • Results will also be shared with organizations that work with equine welfare such as United States Equestrian Federation, American Association of Equine Practitioners, World Horse Welfare, Canadian Equine Research, a multitude of Horse Breed Associations, Retired Racehorse Project, and many others.
  • This is for USA & CANADA ONLY. We have launched the same survey for the UK and ANZ.
