Athletic Equestrian League Hosts Their National Championships Virtually

The Athletic Equestrian League announced their 11th annual National Championships awards virtually on Saturday, May 15th, 2021.   The Athletic Equestrian League (AEL) is an organization of equestrian athletes who compete in individual and team competition on the flat for 40% of the score, over fences for 40% of the score and in an unmounted Practicum for 20% of the score.  The AEL includes a Minis development division for 1st-3rd grades and competition for 4th-12th graders and adults.  The AEL Collegiate National Championships were held for the first time in AEL history and were also held virtually and awards were announced previously.

“Although 2020 and 2021 were challenging for our teams and athletes, everyone rose to the occasion through both virtual and intra-barn competitions,” says Sally Batton, Founder and President of Athletic Equestrian. “The AEL National Championships offered an opportunity for all of our athletes to showcase all the skills they had been working on throughout the year.”

The AEL National Championships were judged by James Morris, West Brookfield, MA and CJ Law, Belchertown, MA.  Over 125 athletes sent in their flat and fences videos to be judged virtually from sixteen teams from NH, ME, MA, NY, RI, CT and VA.  Team Champion in the regular bracket (4th-12th graders) was Midnight Acres, Fincastle, VA and Team Reserve Champion was Faith Hill Farm, East Greenwich, RI.  Team Champion in the Team Plus bracket (4th-12th graders plus Minis and Adults) was Faith Hill Farm, East Greenwich, RI and Team Reserve Champion was Floyd Woods Farm, Chester, NH.

The Collegiate Nationals were judged by Mayne Langer, Burbank, CA and Northeastern University from Boston, MA came out on top of the leaderboard for the Team Championship.  The University of New Hampshire were the Team Reserve Champions.
