New Champions Will Be Crowned at 63rd Washington International Horse Show presented by MARS Equestrian™

New champions will be crowned next week at the 63rd Washington International Horse Show CSI4*-W presented by MARS Equestrian™ running October 26-31, 2021, at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

The nation’s top hunter, jumper, and equitation riders will vie for coveted historic titles. Sitting at the top of the qualified lists, Zayna Rizvi heads into the WIHS Equitation Finals with the greatest number of points accumulated throughout the year. Top hunter riders from coast to coast including Scott Stewart, Nick Haness, Geoffrey Hesslink, and Liza Boyd will take a shot at earning WIHS championships. The FEI division will be star-studded with U.S. Olympians such as McLain Ward, Kent Farrington, and Margie Engle, and newer stars such as Brian Moggre and Adrienne Sternlicht, competing.

Before the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI4*-W for the President’s Cup presented by MARS Equestrian™ on Saturday, October 30, one of the most prestigious events of WIHS takes place. The country’s best junior riders will take over Tryon Stadium to compete in the WIHS Equitation Finals. Won by notable champions like Ward (1993) and Farrington (1999), the WIHS Equitation Finals help prepare riders to become the next generation of show jumping’s elite.

New at WIHS 2021

  • The $215,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI4*-W for the President’s Cup will offer the largest purse in the history of the class
  • Increased FEI ranking points earned in the Welcome Stake and the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI4*-W for the President’s Cup presented by MARS Equestrian™
  • The FEI division will increase the number of accepted rider entries to 50, and allow up to three horses per rider
  • Addition of the Medium Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper division
  • Addition of a Welcome class for Children’s and Adult Hunters and Jumpers
  • The ponies are back! The WIHS Shetland Pony Steeplechase supported by Tryon International Equestrian Center will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Oct. 30
  • Pony hunt team costume class and Pony Party Halloween brunch on Sunday, Oct. 31

  • The Jump for TAPS program will be held once again in the International Jumper $50,000 Speed Final, where each clear over the TAPS jump on course raises money for TAPS, an official charity of WIHS, and the $25,000 Land Rover International Jumper Puissance on Friday, Oct. 29
  • WIHS Pony Equitation Championships presented by Huntland and WIHS Equitation Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30
