Palm Equestrian Academy Celebrates Success at 2021 WDAA World Championship Show

Five days of competition in Guthrie, OK September 29-October 3 welcomed horses and riders from all over the country for the Western Dressage Association of America World Championship Show. This live show after a year away proved to be as popular as ever with 40 breeds and 1100 tests wwin youth, amateur and open competition. The team of Lynn Palm and Cyril Pittion-Rossillon prepared their riders both long distance and in person throughout the year with Cyril leading the group in Oklahoma as Lynn attended Equitana USA in KY.

Veterans of the Palm Equestrian Academy team were amateurs Jay Cain of Stillwater, MN and Charlinda Schabinger of Prior Lake, MN. Professional Rebecca Dennis of Rebecca Dennis Balanced Horsemanship also of MN, rounded out the team of return competitors. Lisa Walter of Morriston, FL made her World Show debut with her homebred gelding LarksFaithful Laddie.

Cain, Schabinger and Dennis collected a remarkable number of Top 5 and Top 10 finishes amid very competitive classes from Basic Level to Level 2. Additionally, they earned Top 10 overall placings in their respective levels. Walter and her gelding led the charge with a World Championship in Equitation, Reserve World Championship for a Level 1 Test and Third Overall in Amateur Level 1. This was a 5-year journey for the pair and Lisa could not be more proud saying, “It was a dream come true! All the hard work and lessons really paid off with excellent outcomes at the show. Love my horse!”.

Cyril was very pleased with the riders and their horses. Online he shared, “They all gave their best and represented very well the principles of correct horsemanship that Lynn and I have shared with them over the years. I was very proud to coach all!”.

For those competitors who like patterns and wish to follow a progressive training scale to develop a happy balanced horse, the dressage ring is the place to be.  Like horsemanship, ranch riding, trail, western riding and reining riders can execute a test with finesse, accuracy and fluidity. The partnerships developed through the progression of training is priceless to correct riding!
