EQUUS Film & Arts Fest “Virtual” event came to a close with a “Live” Winnie Awards Event on Sunday November 29, 2021, with continued viewing of the awards show available on EQUUS TV. A complete listing of this year’s Winnie Winners is available in the 2021 Pop-Up Gallery on the EQUUS Film & Arts Fest Website.
This year the fest went back to its roots nine years ago in St Charles, Illinois for interviews with filmmakers, authors and artist and a visit to the Arcada Theater, with an interview with Ron Onesti, where it all started in 2013. EQUUS Documentary Director, Julianne Neal with JA Media Productions, is putting the final touches on a two-part documentary about the story of the film fest, the horses and people in the area. Part One will drop on December 4th on EQUUS TV, part two will come out at Christmas.
EQUUS Film & Arts fest is proud to announce the “Best Of Fest” Winnie Award to Executive Producer, Robert Redford and Documentary Director, Steve Latham, for “The Mustangs: America’s Wild Horses”.
Bernice Ende, the Lady Long Rider, her documentary from filmmaker, Wren Winfield, also won a Winnie. Other Winnie Winners included, “Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait”, from filmmakers Bud Force and John Langmore, brought to you by Creative Producer, Felicitas Funke, and “The Fall” from UK based filmmaker, Nathan Horrocks, are just a few of our Winnie Winners.
For the “Live” portion of the fest we hosted interviews with EQUUS Film & Arts Fest alumni. The “Live” weekend events were hosted at the beautiful Equestrian Events Stables event and party venue located in Maple Park, Illinois.
The EQUUS Team of Diana De Rosa (Press Link) just back from the Tokyo Summer Olympics and Equitana, Julianne Neal (JA Media) back from filming the first part of the Mustang Discovery Ride through Delaware and Maryland, and Lisa Mae DeMasi, EQUUS journalist, were joined by EQUUS TV, CEO, John Barlett and Jacqueline Taylor, EQUUS TV video journalist. All joined Founder/Director Lisa Diersen in St Charles for the “Live” part of the fest.
