Kimes Ranch Rodeo Athletes Take Home Top Honors

Tristan Martin will never forget his son’s first rodeo. Not only did Boudreaux watch his dad compete in the steer wrestling for the first time, but he watched him take home the win at the historic Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. “’Just win’ is on my mind at every rodeo, but to get the win at such a large and prestigious rodeo this early in the season is a great feeling as we move into the rest of the year!” said the newest member of the Kimes Ranch family.

Martin and his wife, Josee, welcomed their first child shortly after his first trip to the National Finals Rodeo this past December. Boudreaux didn’t have to wait long to watch his dad win. Fresh off a second-place finish at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Martin brought home the buckle and over $20,000 with a 3.9 second run in the final round at Fort Worth. “Coming from a large and close-knit family, partnering with Kimes Ranch makes me feel right at home,” says the Louisiana cowboy. “There isn’t any other brand I would want to represent!”

In the barrel racing, Kimes Ranch athlete Wenda Johnson left the competition in the dust. The Oklahoma barrel racer and her horse “Mac” (Macyver Moonflash) stopped the clock at a record-breaking 16.08 seconds to win the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This dynamic duo didn’t just wow the crowd because of the broken record, but because they broke their own record of 16.17 seconds set just several days earlier. Johnson, who has qualified for the National Finals Rodeo the past two years, is well on the way to a third qualification with this major win.

On the other end of the arena, Chad Rutherford tied for second in the bareback riding with an 89-point ride and Chase Brooks tied for second with an 87-point ride in the saddle bronc riding. Both cowboys recently secured their spots in the inaugural NFR Open by taking home championships in their home circuits.

 About Kimes Ranch
Founded in 2009, Kimes Ranch was created to fill a void in the marketplace. With a multi-generational Western history, Matt and Amanda Kimes’ desire was to create a company that produced great fitting, quality, long lasting jeans that walk the line between fashion-forward and Western friendly. The brand’s catchy logo and even more attractive company culture and customer service have brought them a loyal following amongst their Western consumers. The classically inspired line of jeans has been featured in magazines including American Cowboy, Horse & Rider, Cowboys and Indians and Chrome Magazine. Staying true to its western roots, the jeans have been showcased on television shows such as Heartland, an Alberta based television show that has been running for 14 years and the hit Emmy nominated television series, Yellowstone, created and directed by Taylor Sheridan.
