The American Rodeo Set to Break Records

Ticket sales and participation are reflecting new-found energy of recent investment in The American

As The American Rodeo Finals draw near – March 6 at AT&T Stadium — Teton Ridge, the wholly American-owned brand that has invested in The American, reports close to 30% growth in ticket sales over years prior with 10 days until the event.

When Teton Ridge acquired The American in September 2021, it pledged to make it the world’s premier western sports and entertainment event, and it is now the richest single-day event in western sports with an unmatched total purse of more than $3 million. The payout includes a $100,000 check for individual winners of each event and a $2 million bonus pot. And, for the first time, women’s breakaway ropers are eligible for the $2 million bonus.

There are 1,798 athletes competing in The American, an increase in 104 competitors from 2021, vying for a chance at the unprecedented purse. The event is also seeing an increase in youth and international athletes.

Additionally, the athletes’ excitement for the event and the enthusiasm for a new kind of rodeo has energized the fan base. Unique to The American is the constant flow of events with no downtime, providing fans the thrill of non-stop rodeo action. The rodeo also features the draw of top entertainers, including a live performance from GRAMMY award-winning superstars and co-stars of Paramount Plus television series 1883, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; Pia Toscano of American Idol fame singing “God Bless America” and some of the greatest names in barrel racing, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping (heading and healing), tie down roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding.
