Cavallo Horse & Rider: Carole Herder Announces New Laminitis Video Series Installment

Cavallo Horse & Rider (https://www.cavallo-inc.com) President Carole Herder releases the second installment in her laminitis video series, “Moving Through Laminitis.” In this video, Herder discusses the anatomy of the hoof and how it functions in motion. Watch the first two videos in the series for free now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt7Iq3bgZGc.

In Herder’s second video of the series, she explains hoof function in detail. She’ll help you visualize and understand how a healthy hoof bears weight.

“When you put the additional weight of the rider and tack on the horse, the sole is going in toward the ground,” Herder says. “That sole has conditioned to the daily living environment of the horse. When you have the extra weight, and you ride your horse on the terrain that he isn’t accustomed to, yes, he needs protection.”

Anatomy in Motion

Tune in to her presentation to see a video showing how the inside of a hoof moves under pressure. Herder’s presentation is also full of diagrams and illustrations to help you understand the anatomy and the horse’s blood circulation through the hoof.

Herder describes how horses move in the wild and how horse owners can mimic the motion needed for good circulation. She advises designing paddocks to include tracks to allow horses to move continuously while traveling through varied or wet terrain.
