SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Unbeetable Feeds-sponsored athletes posted an outstanding Cowboy Christmas, combining to earn more than $282,000 during one of professional rodeo’s busiest and most demanding stretches of the season.
Spanning the final days of June through the Fourth of July, Cowboy Christmas sends competitors across the country to compete at multiple rodeos in pursuit of prize money and valuable world standings points. Success requires not only athletic talent, but also horses capable of maintaining peak performance through long days of travel and competition.
Unbeetable Feeds-sponsored team ropers led the way, accounting for $233,022 in total earnings during the run.
Leading that group was 19-year-old Denton Dunning of Surprise, Arizona. Competing in just his second full season on the PRCA circuit, Dunning finished Cowboy Christmas as the second-highest earning heeler, collecting $25,802. The former Cinch Junior World Champion and NHSRA Team Roping champion entered Cowboy Christmas ranked among the Top 20 heelers in the PRCA World Standings and continued his rapid rise through the professional ranks while strengthening his position during the holiday run.
In breakaway roping, Haiden Thompson continued her impressive rookie campaign by finishing as the highest earning breakaway roper of Cowboy Christmas with $24,023. Her biggest payday came in Mandan, North Dakota, where she earned $6,641. Thompson entered Cowboy Christmas already inside the Top 15 of the WPRA World Standings and continued building momentum toward a potential first National Finals Rodeo qualification.
