2018 EGYPTIAN EVENT CONTRACT STAFF

The Pyramid Society has several paid positions available for their annual Egyptian Event, to be held August 29 – September 1, 2018 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.

  • Applicants should be local residents in the Lexington area, as housing or accommodations are not provided.
  • Rate: $8-10+ per hour depending upon position and experience.
  • Hours required for some positions may be divided among two people if necessary.

SALES & CUSTOMER SERVICE - PYRAMID SOCIETY BOOTH

Sell merchandise & tickets, answer basic questions, general support for key staff. Schedule – 1 hour prior to morning sessions and through the end of the show each day.

AWARDS PRESENTER

Manage organization of show awards 1-2 days prior to and throughout the show. Present awards to recipients in the show arena, including being photographed with awards in win shots. Works closely with the show photographer and show ring master.  Attire: casual/professional dress/ skirt set throughout the week with semi-formal attire on Championship night.  Equine experience recommended.

AWARDS MONITOR

Be present in front of the awards display to assure security and assist awards presenter in locating trophies for each session. Reorganize display as trophies are removed to maintain a balanced display as needed throughout the week.

ART AUCTION & ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Assist with administrative preparations 2-3 weeks prior to and 1 week following the show. Catalogue art, follow-up correspondence with donors and purchasers, produce items signs, auction sheets, forms and other documents, post-event reporting and errands.   Assist the art auction manager in setting-up the display two days prior to the show and managing the auction throughout the show. Register bidders on-site and explain the bidding process to attendees. Help calculate the Showcase Auction results on Saturday, and assist successful bidders throughout the check-out process.  The ideal candidate will possess strong written communication & organizational skills, a proficiency in MS Office and a personable & professional demeanor.

ART AUCTION ASSISTANT

Assist the art auction manager in setting-up the display two days prior to the show and managing the auction throughout the show. Register bidders on-site and explain the bidding process to attendees. Help calculate the Showcase Auction results on Saturday, and assist successful bidders throughout the check-out process.  The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a personable & professional demeanor.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT & OFFICE RUNNER

Assist office staff in pre-event administrative tasks 2-4 weeks prior to the show and up to one week post event. Strong organizational and project management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.  During the show, assist key staff in general tasks such as making copies, retrieving supplies from the office, running errands and general administrative tasks.

PHOTOGRAPHER’S SHOWRING ASSISTANT

Work with the show photographer in the show ring during each competition session. Photographer will provide instruction on the use of props (provided) to get each horse’s attention in an effort to garner the best possible win shots. Equine experience is helpful.

PHOTOGRAPHER’S BOOTH ATTENDANT

Assist show exhibitors in reviewing their win shots on several computers provided by the photographer. Basic computer knowledge and professional customer service skills required.

GENERAL LABOR & RUNNER

Be available 30 minutes prior to each morning session and throughout the show to assist key staff with general errands and labor.  Manage and maintain staff & officials’ drink coolers by stocking with ice provided on the show grounds.

GENERAL LABOR

Move event supplies and décor (metal grids, boxes, signs, trophies, supplies, etc.) from office and storage units and set-up at the arena Monday, Aug 27 and Tuesday, Aug 28 (8am-6pm approximately) prior to the Event.  Tear down and return items to storage and office Saturday evening, September 1 (8pm-10pm approx) and Sunday, Sept 2 (8am-6pm approx.) following the Event.  Strong, young men with trucks for hauling would be ideal.

PARKING ATTENDANTS

Be present one hour prior to each show session to direct attendees to the appropriate parking areas. Monitor restricted parking areas to assure adequate space is available for sponsors.
