Editorial Coordinator

Morris Media Network Equine Group seeks an editorial coordinator for Quarter Horse News

Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Salary: Commensurate with experience; includes comprehensive benefits package

Position available: Immediately


General duties:

  • Obtain and enter event and sale results into database and edit appropriately for inclusion in the magazine and online
  • Develop relationships with show secretary staff for event information
  • Maintain event and sale calendars that are published in the magazine and online
  • Assist with sale coverage (including photography) in person, as needed
  • Assist editor and staff with special projects, including the Sales Price Guide, foal photo contest and Foal Follow-Up
  • Assist in the production of special statistical sections by obtaining statistics and formatting them for editorial staff proofing
  • Research content and photos for the Auction Ear department, as needed
  • Assist with website and social media posts, as needed
  • Assist writers in acquiring photographs from events, as needed
  • Field editorial questions from readers by phone and email
  • At the close of each issue, ensure that the photographs and articles are correctly labeled and archived in the digital horse and rider files
  • Scan and digitally catalog hard-copy file photos into archived horse and rider files
  • Function as in-office support staff for writers on-location at events, as needed
  • Work with the entire QHN team to maintain the highest standards of editorial integrity and maintain our position as an industry-leading publication



  • Strong technical abilities
  • Organized, disciplined and self-motivated
  • Strong background and working knowledge of Western equine disciplines
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to adapt to fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Team player willing to fill other roles, as needed
  • Knowledge of WordPress and InCopy preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
