Marketing & Communications Intern
Horse Racing Women’s Summit

Overview:

The Horse Racing Women’s Summit is a multi-day event bringing together people from all facets of the horse racing industry with the mission of connecting and empowering women in horse racing. After a profound inaugural event in 2022, the committee behind HRWS was inspired to expand the initiative to include additional women-centric events throughout the calendar year in addition to the core 3-day summit in September. HRWS strives to inspire women in racing to be trailblazers, build networks, meet new friends, foster deep discussions, and ultimately Engage, Innovate, and Invest. HRWS is looking for a passionate intern to join our team to assist with marketing and communications duties. The candidate will be a key contributor to planning and promoting HRWS events. Those looking to gain valuable online media experience and network with strong female leaders are encouraged to apply.

Internship Duration:

March 2023 – December 2023

Responsibilities:

  • Attend a weekly meeting via Zoom/Google Meet
  • Take detailed meeting agenda notes
  • Monitor email and slack chats to stay up to date
  • Update website via WIX
  • Design graphics in Canva
  • Curate and send emails in Mailchimp
  • Assist with social media publishing
  • Attend events to assist planning committee in various tasks

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about female empowerment/involvement
  • Interested in equine athletics, general sports, or event planning
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Eager to learn new skills (such as MailChimp, Canva & WIX)
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Social media experience
