Freelance Writer Opportunity

The Mid-South Horse Review has been the south’s leading equine publication and resource since 1992. MSHR is dedicated to highlighting southern young riders, amateurs, and professionals, as well as timely equine news, sporting events, health, training and farming/ barn management topics. We serve and support equestrians, horse owners, farm owners, managers and businesses. Our mission is to help equestrians and equine businesses grow and thrive in our southern horse communities.

We are currently seeking a freelance writer(s) to cover topics related to:

  • Horse Health
  • Pasture and Farm Management
  • Feature Articles on leading young riders, adult amateurs, professionals and equine business owners in our region
  • Regional events and show recaps
  • Equine Tech and Innovations
  • Along with content marketing for specific partners

We are a small and mighty staff that is looking to work and build a relationship with a long-term freelancer(s) who is experienced in equine journalism.

The candidate(s) will need to have at least 2 years of experience in equine feature writing, equine content marketing/ PR, and/ or equine event reporting. The desired freelancer(s) will be one who can pitch story ideas to the Publisher and take the lead on contacting and interviewing quality sources for articles. Supplying photographs with articles, either supplied by sources or by obtaining photographs him/ herself is an added benefit.
