The Mid-South Horse Review is growing and we are excited to announce that we are building a fun, dynamic, supportive and collaborative Advertising and Marketing Sales Team. We are seeking a Multimedia Account Executive. The Account Executive will work directly with Equine Industry Business Owners and Decision Makers. The main responsibility is to help consult and collaborate with equine business owners to help plan strategic marketing and advertising campaigns to position in front of the Mid-South Horse Review’s Print and Digital readers and Podcast Listeners.
Job Description:
- Create strategic and customized campaigns, pitch and close advertising plans that include digital, print, podcast, and sponsorship positions to new and existing clients.
- Track activity and calls through databases, and identify potential new business and growth opportunities.
- Prospect, work lead lists and cold call new advertising prospects with a focus on growing revenue month over month.
- Manage advertising clients each month and collect ad materials. Keep clients in the know of upcoming deadlines and artwork due dates.
- Be the liaison between advertising clients and the design team if clients need designer services provided by MSHR.
- Attend equine shows and events when necessary to network with vendors, exhibitors and spectators.
- Meet and exceed sales goals set by the Publisher.
- Assist AR with signed IO orders and designated run dates so that AR can appropriately invoice clients each month. Also assist AR with overdue invoices and payments needed from clients.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of advertising sales and client management experience, preferably in print media/magazine publishing. Exposure to both print and digital products and or broadcast/ podcast is an added value.
- Knowledge of horses and the horse industry
- Weekly meetings with Publisher and sales team- In-person if located in the Greater Memphis, TN area, or virtually if located outside the Greater Memphis area.
- Prior experience in sales planning, sales strategy development and advertising campaign management a must.
- Excellent and professional verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience in building and cultivating relationships as well as having face-to-face meetings and/ or virtual meetings every week with advertisers
- Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, business administration, sales, or experience in related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to take a consultative selling approach and create custom campaigns for clients based on in-depth conversations with clients, build sales proposals based on the needs of clients, and pitch campaigns that will have a high success rate and impact for clients. Accomplishing these tasks with little oversight from the Publisher is a highly desirable skill set and trait.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and or Google Office, specifically Excel or Google Sheets, MS Word or Google Docs, MS Powerpoint or Google Slides.
- Added benefit but not required if experienced in design programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop or Canva.
Job Type: Open to Part time (20 hours per week minimum), but prefer Full time (40 hours per week).
Sales Goals will be set according to part time/ full time status
Pay: Commission with monthly Bonus Packages

Work Location: Remote
Prefer Account Executives who live within AR, TN, KY, MS, AL, GA, FL, LA so they can easily meet in-person with Equine Business Owners in the region.
Available Career Growth: This position can grow into an Advertising Sales Director position by the individual exceeding sales goals every month, showing team leadership, creating new business and products for publication and displaying pride in work with high morals and integrity.
