“HoofNit” with History

By Everything Horses and Livestock® Magazine Jana Harrington-Barcus & Melissa Cowan

Everything Horses and Livestock Magazine has the privileged to work with various local Historians of Miami County Kansas.

Working with historians is one of many interesting interviews we have the privileged to record. Listening to memories can be fascinating and fun. Join us for a walk on HoofNit Podcast with LuAnne Debrick as she tells her story on HoofNit Podcast & our YouTube Video channel.

Her childhood was unique, she was raised by her grandfather but has so many great memories riding in the delivery truck with her father on his candy route. This candy route ran through Franklin and Miami County Kansas. Check out HoofNit Podcast & Everything Horses and Livestock YouTube…  Did you say Candy?

We also talked with another Historian from Paola, Kansas, Gary Hink. Gary has a passion to restore the Paola Kansas town square. He began with the purchase of the Jackson Hotel which dates back to 1863 and is still sitting in the same location. If only buildings could talk. Can you imagine all that it has seen?  Western movie starts Roy Rogers and Gabby Hayes stayed there in September of 1940.  As we sat in the hotel for this interview, Gary tells us where it began for him and this huge restoration project. He isn’t finished with his vision, there is more on his future project list. You can hear about Gary’s dream from this link: A man with a dream

We will continue HoofNit back in time for a glimpse of the past through others shoes.
