Julie Broadway Becomes the 24th Recipient of the Prestigious Equine Industry Vision Award

DALLAS, TX – American Horse Council President Julie Broadway was named and honored as the 2025 Equine Industry Vision Award Winner at the AHP Equine Media Conference in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, May 16, 2025 at a breakfast sponsored by Zoetis.
Broadway stated, “I am incredibly honored and sincerely grateful for this nomination—just being considered among such esteemed icons of our industry is truly humbling. To be selected as the award recipient and recognized as a visionary is a remarkable honor. I extend my heartfelt thanks to AHP and Zoetis for this meaningful recognition and for acknowledging the contributions I have made in the hope of advancing and strengthening our industry for the benefit of all.”
Broadway’s career spans almost 30 years in leadership positions and volunteering in the equine industry, and since taking the helm of the American Horse Council (AHC) in 2016, she has been a transformative force in the equine industry. Her leadership is defined by collaboration, strategic vision, and a deep passion for the industry, fostering open discussions among stakeholders, ensuring that industry concerns are well-represented in legislative and regulatory spaces, and championing initiatives that make the equine world more inclusive and sustainable.
Broadway’s passion for the horse industry stems from her own experiences. “I’m passionate about the equine industry because horses have enhanced my life and well-being so profoundly,” she explains. “Working at the AHC is a way to give back to the equine community and ensure the long-term health of the industry.”
Her career reflects an unwavering dedication to improving and promoting the equine sector. From her time as a rider, competitor, and show manager to serving as Executive Director of the Morgan Horse Association and president of AHC, Broadway has consistently championed initiatives that enhance the industry’s operations and inclusivity. Her tenure at AHC has been marked by significant contributions to policy, research, and industry advocacy. Some of her most impactful achievements include:
- Spearheading the National Economic Impact Study (EIS) – a critical resource that helps policymakers, industry professionals, and equestrians understand the economic significance of horses in the U.S.
- Serving on the International Advisory Board for EUNetHorse, collaborating with global experts to enhance the resilience and sustainability of horse farms.
- Bridging connections between the equine industry and other agricultural sectors, recognizing that collaboration is key to long-term industry success.
Broadway has also been at the forefront of regulatory education, ensuring that equine stakeholders are well-informed about industry policies. She played a pivotal role in helping the industry navigate updates to the Horse Protection Act (HPA) by organizing discussions between the USDA and industry professionals.
Broadway has led several outreach initiatives to connect the industry with a wider audience:
- Launching the AHC Podcast on Horses in the Morning, making equine industry issues more accessible to the public.
- Leading the #HereForHorses campaign, a national initiative aimed at increasing public engagement and raising awareness about the industry’s impact.
- Establishing the AHC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force to promote inclusivity and broaden access to equestrian opportunities.
- Joining the board of PATH Intl. in 2011 and serving as board president for two years.
- Instituting regular webinars and podcasts on current industry topics such as Social License to Operate, the Equine Veterinary Shortage, and Equine Assisted Services
