3rd Annual Divertimentos & Dressage Comes to Tryon International Equestrian Center Benefitting Brooke USA and Spartanburg Philharmonic

Brooke USA Foundation’s (Brooke USA) Foothills Regional Advisory Council and Spartanburg Philharmonic are thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual Divertimentos & Dressage taking place on Thursday, October 20th at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The signature event is sure to delight guests once again with a live symphony orchestra playing classical pieces to the choreographed movements of extraordinarily gifted dressage riders and their Grand Prix horses.

“I see riding horses as art, as well as sport.  The experience of live orchestral music with musical freestyle dressage is simply captivating, mesmerizing and unlike any other artistic or athletic endeavor,” said Sally Frick, Chair of the Brooke USA Foothills Advisory Council, a member of Brooke USA’s Board of Directors, equestrian and flutist for the Spartanburg Philharmonic and other area chamber ensembles.

The Dressage musical freestyle will feature Jim Koford, Jessica Davis, Ashley Perkins, Trayce Doubek, Barbara Bonk Matson, Ashley Parsons, Alexandra Reid Naranjo, Brittany Lincoln-Anders and a special guest Olympian Doug Payne. These riders and their horses will captivate the audience with an orchestral repertoire that includes works by Dvorak, Handel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Brahms, Strauss II, Coleridge-Taylor, Bernstein and Bruno Mars.

“Divertimentos and Dressage is a fantastic opportunity for the Spartanburg Philharmonic to expand awareness for our organization while providing the community with an exciting and unique event,” shares Kathryn Boucher, Spartanburg Philharmonic Executive Director. “The repertoire is familiar, but the setting and the entire experience is fresh, captivating, and along with our partner Brooke USA Foundation, one we look forward to providing audiences each year.”

Divertimentos & Dressage is an exciting event that supports the life-saving work of Brooke USA, as well as the continuing and expanding programs of the Spartanburg Philharmonic.
