EQUUS Film & Arts Fest to Host “Mustang Summit” in Sacramento California, December 1 – 4, 2022

The Mustang Summit, hosted by the 2022 Equus Film & Arts Fest on December 2 -3 in Sacramento, CA, as part of the initiative to expand the Mustang education of the horse loving general public. The Mustang Summit will be a platform for Americans and Mustang enthusiasts to learn, express views, share experiences and discuss issues on an open stage.

The Summit will be a safe environment to ask questions, listen to experts, understand more about the current conditions of the American mustang on and off the range. The various panels will be discussing issues such as healthy mustang numbers, mustang gathers, mustangs in holding, successful gentling and training programs, competitive events, kill pens, youth programs, prison programs, veteran & healing mustang programs.

EQUUS has had an amazing selection of Mustang and Wild Horse Documentaries submitted this year. There will be Panels with filmmakers and those involved in the day-to-day interactions with these American Icons. The list of guest speakers will be announced soon. There will also be an Adoption Symposium on Friday December 2 to showcase these wonderful horses. Lisanne Fear will also be there to talk about her cross-country journey with 3 Mustangs and a Mulestang on the Mustang Discovery Ride Project.

Mustang trainer and the Ranch Manager at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, Wild Horse Program, JP Dyal, will be on hand to talk about the Sacramento Sheriff’s Mustang Program. Dr. Sue Anne Wells, Founder of the Chattanooga Mustang Leadership Partners, will discuss how Mustangs work in her program. Neda DeMayo, Executive Director of Return to Freedom Mustang Sanctuary. Bill Simpson, well known expert on the “Wild Horse Fire Brigade” is scheduled to present an in-depth look into using wild horses in wild fire management and control. Neta Rhyne, while presenting her documentary “Their Last Ride: The Final Journey” will host a lecture on the kill-pen and slaughter issues that many mishandled Mustangs face.

Other guests are joining the event daily. Guest speakers from Mustang Heritage Foundation will also be attending.
