USDF Gold Medalist Julio Mendoza to Join 3rd Annual Divertimentos & Dressage at Tryon International Equestrian Center

Dressage Riders Present To Live Symphony Orchestra While Benefitting Brooke USA and Spartanburg Philharmonic

Brooke USA Foundation’s (Brooke USA) Foothills Regional Advisory Council and Spartanburg Philharmonic are ecstatic to welcome Julio Mendoza to the 3rd Annual Divertimentos & Dressage taking place on Thursday, October 20th at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Gold Medalist dressage rider, Julio Mendoza, will be joined by his son Mateo as they present their choreographed movements with a live symphony orchestra.

“We’re delighted with Julio’s participation as he has been a huge part of this event and our success since inception in 2019. When he was first approached, he did not think he would be available as he was planning on spending time in Latin America. We could not be happier with the news that Julio will be joining us and that he will be a part of Divertimentos & Dressage which will be taking place for the first time at the Tryon International Equestrian Center,” stated Sally Frick, Chair of Brooke USA’s Foothills Regional Advisory Council, and a member of the organization’s national Board of Directors.

The Dressage musical freestyle also features Jim Koford, Carrie Kimmel, Ashley Perkins, Trayce Doubek, Ashley Parsons, Alexandra Reid-Naranjo, and a special guest Olympian eventer Doug Payne. These riders and their horses will captivate the audience with an orchestral repertoire that includes works by Dvorak, Handel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Brahms, Strauss II, Coleridge-Taylor, Bernstein, and Bruno Mars.

Divertimentos & Dressage is an exciting event that supports the life-saving work of Brooke USA, as well as the continuing and expanding programs of the Spartanburg Philharmonic. Brooke USA strives to alleviate the suffering of working horses, donkeys and mules, and the people they serve in vulnerable communities across the globe. The Spartanburg Philharmonic enriches, inspires, and educates the public through live performances of high-quality music.

Starting with registration at 6:00 PM, guests will enjoy a pre-performance reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and featuring a silent auction. Promptly at 7:00 PM, guests will be treated to a one-hour performance. This year for the evening of music and freestyle dressage, the event further opens its arms to the community inviting Pony Clubbers and members of the Spartanburg Philharmonic Youth Orchestra with a special $25 admission for children and teens under 16 with discount code 2022PONY.
