AHP Member Courtney Maum Fundraising for Chicago Writing Center with an April Lecture about Fear

AHP Member and bestselling author Courtney Maum is bringing her Equus Fest-winning and Today Show favorite memoir “The Year of the Horses” to Chicago to raise funds for the community-writing center @storystudio_chicago. Her lecture “Making Friends with Fear: What Horses Have Taught Me About Writing” will take place from 6-9pm CT at the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago on April 4th, 2023, and will be followed by a conversation with Pulitzer Prize finalist author Rebecca Makkai.

The Author Spotlight lecture series is Story Studio’s most important fundraising event of the year, helping to fund the classes, workshops, retreats, and lectures empowering and educating writers citywide. Group discounts are available to this event by contacting sara@storystudiochicago.org Bring your entire barn!

Selected by “The Today Show” as their top pick for Mental Health Awareness Month and a favorite of such publications as Chronicle of the Horse and Vanity Fair, “The Year of the Horses” tells how Courtney returned to the saddle after 30 years away from riding and ultimately found a path back to herself—and happiness—on horseback.

Her April 4th lecture will explore the transformational power (and benefits!) of fear, encouraging all present to shake things up in their lives—on and off the page. Appropriate for writers, riders, and for people who just love books and words and life. Tell your Chicago-based friends about this important fundraising event on April 4th from 6-9pm CT!

If you’re interested in having Courtney speak for your organization, please contact her publicist, Becky Kraemer: becky@tinhouse.com.
