Horse Illustrated’s Latest Barn Banter Podcast Episode Features Thoroughbred Aficionado Sarah Hickner and Eques Pante Creator Jessica Andrews

Horse Illustrated rolls out the seventh episode of its new podcast, Barn Banter. Co-hosts Raquel Lynn and Susan Friedland talk to author Sarah Hickner about her writing career and love for Thoroughbreds, as well as Jessica Andrews about her brand Eques Pante, a line of underwear made specifically for equestrians. This episode is presented by Title Sponsor Straight Arrow Products. To listen to this episode, visit horseillustrated.com/barn-banter-episode-7 or search your favorite podcasting app to listen and subscribe to the show.

This month’s first guest, Sarah Hickner, is a lifelong horse-obsessed girl who has found joy in recording some of her crazy experiences for other horse lovers to enjoy. The horse world is one of hard knocks, but Sarah likes to find the good and the lessons in all of it and pass them on for others. Sarah is currently training her horse Danny to compete in this year’s Thoroughbred Makeover by Retired Racehorse Project. Find Sarah’s newly released memoir, Finding Gideon, along with Stories from the Barn Aisle at all major book retailers.

This month’s next guest, Jessica Andrews, is the creator of Eques Pante. After many years in the saddle, Jessica noticed her knickers were lacking. They didn’t protect. They didn’t support. Having worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years, Jessica has extensive experience helping women feel confident and beautiful. A little red rescue filly and a series of events led to Jessica’s career change and the creation of Eques Pante.

Raquel and Susan wrap this episode with a conversation with Cailin Caldwell of ASPCA Right Horse to discuss the third annual Adopt a Horse Month. In celebration of the month, Cailin introduces listeners to three adoptable horses: Lillian, Gem and Harbor Angel. Co-host Raquel Lynn keeps her Paint Horse mare, Fira, on her urban equestrian property in Los Angeles, Calif. She has a passion for fashion and an eye for interior design and creating. Raquel is the creator of the popular blogs Horses & Heels and Stable Style. She is also the author of Stable Style: Barn Inspiration for all Equestrians and freelances for a variety of equine publications, including Horse Illustrated and Western Life Today.

Co-host Susan Friedland is a blogger at Saddle Seeks Horse and frequent contributor to Horse Illustrated. The former middle school teacher and fan of equestrian travel has written three books: Horses Adored and Men Endured, a horse lover’s dating memoir; Unbridled Creativity: 101 Writing Exercises for the Horse Lover; and Strands of Hope: How to Grieve the Loss of a Horse. She’s a proud OTTB mom to her gelding Knight.
