Where in the World is Wendy? African Safari Version

If you’re looking for riding instructor and SURE FOOT Equine Balance Pads creator Wendy Murdoch this September, she can be found in Kenya, hosting a safari.

In addition to “Webinars with Wendy” and “Wendy’s Whinnies” podcasts, The HAY SOAKERTM, and The WHOLE RIDERTM COURSE – her new online offering — Wendy also owns Horsing Around International. Through this company and Safaris Unlimited, the outfitter for this nine-day saddle/vehicle safari to Masai Mara, 11 lucky riders will experience the adventure of a lifetime!

“I started offering these African safaris in 2008,” says Wendy. “Our exceptional guides keep the true safari tradition alive with touches of luxury as we look for game as in the era of the movie Out of Africa. We travel by horse or truck while our crew packs up and moves a canvas mobile tented camp and sets up an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, gourmet meals, hot showers, and comfy cots.”

All spots are filled for the September 11-19, 2023 trip during The Great Wildebeest Migration where her guests are also likely to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and many more species. For those who choose to ride, all breeds of horses are used, including quarter horses and appaloosas. Some guests will get to experience the Boerperd, a modern breed of horse from South Africa.

“I was expecting an adventure, and my trip with Wendy did not disappoint,” says Sarah Atkins, three-time African safari rider. “What I didn’t expect was to find a magical place where I could relax into the quiet rhythm of the safari, leaving all worries about schedules, meetings, and commitments behind.”

The Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya is adjacent to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. They are two of the most important wildlife conservation and wilderness areas in Africa. While wildebeests number in the millions, other species, such as the black rhino, have dropped to as few as 20 individuals in the wild.
