AQHA Names 2024 Best Remuda and International Best Remuda Winners

AQHA recognizes Beggs Cattle Company of Texas and Las Tunas Cattle Co. of Mexico for raising outstanding ranch horses.

The American Quarter Horse Association is honored to recognize Beggs Cattle Company in Texas as the 2024 AQHA Best Remuda and Las Tunas Cattle Co. in Mexico as the 2024 AQHA International Best Remuda.

A family legacy spanning across Texas, Beggs Cattle Company of Fort Worth, Texas, honors the traditions of ranching and maintains their western heritage through four generations of Beggs ranchers from three ranches in seven Texas counties. Their story began in 1879 when a love for horses, cattle and ranching steered the family business. Today, their breeding program emphasizes raising American Quarter Horses for ranch work while also venturing into the performance horse world.

Over half a century ago in Chihuahua, Mexico, families joined together for a common goal, preserving their ranching heritage. Re-founded in 2017 by the Guerrero family, Las Tunas Cattle Co. continues to preserve and promote ranching traditions through breeding quality livestock. The ranch’s main purpose is to contribute to its community, provide food security and promote ranching heritage, equestrian sports and recreation, and produce world class Angus cattle and American Quarter Horses.

Beggs Cattle Company and Las Tunas Cattle Co. will receive specially designed awards presented during the 2025 AQHA Breeder Recognition Banquet held at the 2025 AQHA Convention in Las Vegas, and the ranches will be featured this fall in The American Quarter Horse Journal.

Since 1992, AQHA has honored the contributions ranch horses have made to the heritage of the American Quarter Horse by presenting the AQHA Best Remuda award to ranches that raise outstanding horses. In 2018, AQHA introduced the International Best Remuda award. Learn more about the AQHA Best Remuda and AQHA International Best Remuda awards.
