The Freelance Remuda Podcast Launches Episode 51, Receives Finalist Nod in Equine Media Awards

Just as The Freelance Remuda Podcast launched the second episode of 2024, “Episode 51: Reel Talk with Video Creators,” the announcement came that the 2023 episode, “Episode 47: Considering Content Creation,” was named a finalist in the American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards. The podcast, which is in its seventh year, continues to promote education among freelancers in the equine media industry.

The Freelance Remuda Podcast is produced for freelance professionals who are navigating the equine media frontier. The hosts start each episode with talk that centers on their own freelance careers, what’s challenging and what is new with their work and the industry. In Episode 51, hosts Kate Bradley Byars and Abigail Boatwright talk about the Freelancer’s Guide to Content Creation Retreat that was held in March in Fredericksburg, Texas, with co-hosts photographer Chris Dickinson and writer/photographer Jennifer Denison.

The segmented episode introduces guest Lily Rhodes, a digital marketer and social media manager who creates content for equine brands. The second segment of the episode features Karlee Peterson, an executive producer at The Cowboy Channel. Both guests discuss their career trajectory as well as how freelancers can tackle careers using video, in television or social media.

“Hearing how Lily build a career out of her passion for horses and social media was inspiring,” Boatwright said. “And I really enjoyed the glimpse of what it’s like in television behind-the-scenes with Karlee!”

The episodes continue every other month, with additional guest blogs and special vlog content available at freelanceremuda.com regularly. Educational information is shared regularly, as well as job opportunities, in the private Freelance Remuda Facebook Group.

Previously, The Freelance Remuda Podcast was awarded first place and second place for episodes in the Equine Media Awards. This year, co-host Bradley Byars entered “Episode 47: Considering Content Creation.” The episode, which was published August 8, 2023, featured two creatives and media professionals, Ashton Kirkeide of Black Horse Marketing Services, and Mackenzie Kimbro, an author, social media influencer, television host and rancher. The episode will be a finalist in Class 24, Equine Media Podcast. The full episode has recently been released with an additional 26 minutes of interview with Kimbro.

“We are so excited to have another episode as a finalist in the Equine Media Awards,” said Bradley Byars. “Abigail and I love visiting with our guests about how they are impacting the equine media industry, and this episode was one where we dug into marketing, specifically content creation. Ashton and Mackenzie offered listeners a wealth of information to better align their goals in an authentic and professional manner.”
