Equine Disease Communication Center Launches New Website

The Equine Disease Communication Center, a leader in real-time and accurate information about infectious diseases, is proud to announce the launch of their newly redesigned website at https://equinediseasecc.org/. The new site features a clean modern design and improves user experience with resources readily available and more access to information in times of need.

When a disease outbreak occurs at a facility, racetrack or show grounds, a lack of communication or information can be detrimental to navigating the situation successfully. The new website alleviates the need to search multiple sites for information and provides real-time and accurate communication during outbreaks. Equinediseasecc.org houses all information in one place to successfully navigate an outbreak, with the resources for both owners and veterinarians.

“We are thrilled to launch our newly designed website for horse owners, veterinarians, state animal health officials and event managers who need to stay current with disease outbreak information.  Just as dealing with COVID-19, highlighted the need for disease education and streamlined communication, our new website offers a one stop shop for disease information,” said Dr. Nathaniel White, EDCC director. “We have created individual disease pages which link to factsheets and the latest information about diagnosis, treatments and vaccination guidelines for owners and veterinarians.”

As the EDCC continues to work on the cooperative agreement from USDA-APHIS National Animal Disease Preparedness Response Program (NADPRP) to increase biosecurity awareness, the new website will grow as educational resource. All facets of the horse industry: owners, show managers, veterinarians and partners will benefit from the continued education and updates.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the new site and sign up for email alerts to receive the most recent case information. Veterinarians are encouraged to report confirmed cases through the report a disease page: (https://equinediseasecc.org/report-a-disease). Keeping up to date on the latest information allows for users to know when a disease is prevalent in their area to make an information decision about travel.
