Horizon Structures 2023 Run-In Shed Contest Winner Announced – Bella The Standardbred Does The Honors

by Nikki Alvin-Smith

Justin Zook, owner of the leading modular horse barn producer in the U.S.A., Horizon Structures LLC, was pleased to announce the winner of the free run-in shed via video on July 27th, 2023, on their company Facebook and Instagram and You Tube pages.

The winner was selected at random from the 8 finalists that submitted introductory videos shared on Horizon’s social media platforms during the past few weeks, by Bella, a Standardbred mare.

“Bella’s choice. After a discerning look at the grain buckets each labeled with the name of a finalist, she took a tentative nibble of grain from one and that bucket determined the winner. I’d like to thank each and every one of the thousands of people that played and also mention that none of the finalists will go home with an empty bucket. As Justin explained in the video.” stated Chief Marketing Officer, Jill Siragusa,

The winner of the 10’ x 20’ run-in shed was Michael Curtin, of Tyringham, MA. Michael and his family were thrilled with their win, the knowledge of which came during a frustrating moment of travel on their way to enjoy a long planned and keenly awaited family trip to Montana, courtesy of a graduation present for his son from his sister.

“During our flight I asked my wife Pam if she had checked the Horizon Structures Facebook to see if the run-in shed contest winner had been decided and she said she hadn’t and would do it then. She was ecstatic when she found out we had won. So much so that other folks on the plane wondered what was going on. We had just missed our connecting flight in Chicago and so the news turned a bad day into an exceptional one,” explained a clearly thrilled Michael.

Shortly after landing when everyone had switched their phones back on, Michael said that his horse loving wife and daughter had their phones ‘blow up’ with folks congratulating them on the news.

The Curtin family are in the process of developing their new horse farm in Tyringham, MA and it will be a few months before they will take delivery of their new Horizon Structures run-in shed, but certainly Michael expects it to be put to good use.

When he was asked about the delivery timeline wanted and details of placing the run-in shed on site, Michael has already made a wise decision by leaving the final choice to his ‘girls’:-

“I’m familiar with the company and their great products as I helped my neighbor with the construction of the pillars and site for his new Horizon horse barn. I think I know where we’ll put it. But of course, as the people that will use it for their horses on a daily basis, I’ll leave the final decision to my wife and daughter.”

While the girls in the Curtin brigade were currently out riding and enjoying the scenic wonders of The Glacier National Park, Michael was happy to be talking of the future plans for the farm.

“I cannot express in words how excited we all are to have won the run-in shed,” he said after pausing for several moments unable to speak, “We are very thankful.”

Not everyone can be the final winner of the Giveaway Contest but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty on offer in the product line that horse owners can enjoy shopping for horse housing wise.

Horizon Structures is renowned for their horse barns built by Amish craftsmen utilizing some of the finest timber in the country and has recently added a collection of high-end timber frame barn designs to their product line. Their sales lot is always full of super discount offers so well worth a visit if you need it now and you love a deal.

Justin Zook has taken over the reins at Horizon Structures as owner and he is very active engaging with the equestrian community. He is clearly passionate about the handsome products that the company offers. While the brand is known for being the leading producer of modular horse barns, their product line runs deep. It includes a range of easy clean, beautifully built residential and commercial kennels, a huge variety of chicken coops, and divine greenhouses. But it is the horse barns that lead the way, and Justin Zook is front and center when it comes to being available to work with folks seeking to build their dream horse farm.

“I think folks in the equestrian arena are quite used to seeing Horizon Structures products around the block. Aside from this and other contests, where we’ve been giving away run-in sheds and barns over the past several years we are often out on the road offering deals too. Our next huge ‘annual’ event where great discounts on our barns and run-in sheds are up for grabs is the Equine Affaire, in W. Springfield, MA. where we’ll be this November 9th through the 12th as their veteran Barn Sponsor at this fantastic event. We have a beautiful 2 stall barn on offer with the usual free freight deal if you live within 150 miles of the event and can take delivery straight after the show closes, alongside several run-in sheds. Give us a call if you’d like to snag one now. Our low profile one that was also on offer has already sold.

I’ve truly enjoyed spending time at the show over the past few years as part of our team and enjoy connecting with all the wonderful folks at our exhibition. On a personal note, I’d like to thank our team at Horizon that put the contest together and ran it so successfully. In particular Jill Siragusa, who always does such a stellar job. Stay tuned to our media channels for more contests, giveaways, and special discounts in the future. There is always something going on!”
